Ancient Roads Workshop

The Ancient Roads Workshop meeting date has been set for May 7th.

The main focus of this workshop is to organize our efforts on the Ancient and Class IV Road issue with other user groups. VASA, VJA, and CCC of VT all share common interests in protecting and keeping these public rights of way open for motorized recreation. Volunteers from these organizations have stepped forward to assist in working with individual towns and in gathering information. This workshop will give up to date legislative information, outline a data gathering process, and help to develop partnerships with municipalities and among the different user groups.

We need to all work together to protect these public rights of way.

Congratulations, new officers!

The members of VORA met on October 25th. Discussed were the letters that had been sent out to towns in Vermont to introduce VORA to them. At the same time, they were asked just how important off road activities are to their town and if they would like any assistance from VORA in finding ancient roads.

Also on the agenda for the meeting was the election of a couple new officers. Up for election were the positions of vice president, secretary, and all the member-at-large positions. Steve Carlin was re-elected to the office of vice president, Danny Hale was elected to the position of secretary, and the member-at-large positions are now filled by Bill Bailey, Doug Weber, and Ian Schulze for ATVs, OHMs, and 4x4s respectively. Thanks go to Anah Tuttle and Todd Scheinfeld for their work in the previous year as ATV member-at-large and secretary, respectively.

The final matter discussed was the goals that VORA would like to concentrate on in the coming year.

The next meeting of the VORA executive board has been set. See the calendar
for more info.
